What is AMON?

The Activity Monitor, or AMON for short, is a memory-resident anti-virus monitor which automatically scans files before they are opened, executed, created or accessed. The boot sectors of floppy diskettes are also checked the first time the diskette is accessed. AMON makes use of both virus signatures and heuristics to detect threats to your system.

It is strongly recommend you leave AMON enabled at all times. If disabled, your computer may become vulnerable to computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware and other threats.
